PM Modi to Dedicate ₹9.49-Crore Rain Forest at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat
October 29, 2026
Gandhinagar: Ekta Nagar, home to the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, is set to add a new attraction to its tourism offerings with the upcoming ‘Rain Forest’ project. Located near the new Gora Bridge, close to the Vagadiya Checkpost, the project spans 47,000 square metres and has been developed at a cost of ₹9.49 crore. The attraction aims to enhance the tourist experience by offering visitors an immersive experience in nature, along with new recreational opportunities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the project.
A Unique Opportunity to Experience India’s Diverse Evergreen Flora at One Destination
The ‘Rain Forest’ at Ekta Nagar blends natural beauty, biodiversity and sustainable tourism. It features plant species native to the rainforests of different regions of India, including the Western Ghats, the Himalayas, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Visitors will learn about forest ecology, biodiversity, forest conservation and the importance of local flora. By bringing visitors closer to nature, the project will also raise environmental awareness and highlight the importance of conserving forest ecosystems.
A 220-Metre-Long Glass-Deck Skywalk Bridge to Be the Main Attraction
Along with offering visitors an opportunity to experience nature up close, the ‘Rain Forest’ features several attractions, with a 220-metre-long glass-deck skywalk bridge serving as the main attraction. Walking along the glass walkway, visitors will be able to enjoy unique views of the rainforest’s natural beauty. A waterfall measuring 5 to 8 metres in height, a circular pond and connecting bridges will further enhance the site’s appeal. The 20-foot-high and 40-foot-wide entrance gate, built using natural stone, will add to the visitor experience. Walking trails made of Narmada stone and traditional brick-and-lime materials, rows of trees and thematic landscaping showcasing the different layers of the rainforest will further enrich the experience.
A Blend of Education and Entertainment
The Rain Forest’s information centre will educate visitors about rainforest ecology, biodiversity and forest conservation through maps, illustrations, informative displays and QR codes. The children’s play area will offer recreational amenities, including a rock-climbing wall, slides of varying heights, tree balconies connected by stairways, and swings.
