Rajpipla: A grand National Unity Parade will be held at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar on October 31 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This year’s parade will place special emphasis on the themes of a ‘Naxal-Free India’ and ‘Unity in Diversity’.
A key attraction of the National Unity Parade 2026 will be 45 dog squads that have contributed to anti-Naxal operations, highlighting the role of trained canine units in strengthening the country’s internal security.
The parade will feature a march-past by 19 contingents of police forces from various states and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Police bands, motorcycle displays, tableaux and cultural performances will add to the grandeur of the event. National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets will also participate, showcasing the spirit of unity in diversity.
The participation of dog squads involved in anti-Naxal operations will highlight the contribution of these trained animals to national security. Their sharp sense of smell, discipline and specialised training play an important role in modern security operations, reflecting the commitment of security personnel to safeguarding the nation.
The annual parade will also pay tribute to Sardar Patel’s historic contribution to the unification of India and reaffirm the commitment to realising his vision of a united nation.
The National Unity Parade 2026 is expected to go beyond a ceremonial march-past, serving as a symbol of national pride, the dedication of security forces and the spirit of cooperation that underpins India’s unity and integrity, a press release said. DeshGujarat
