Ekta Nagar to Get 2.62-km Eco-Trail; PM Modi to Inaugurate It on Oct 31

Ekta Nagar: A 2.62-km forest eco-trail showcasing India’s unity in diversity will be opened to tourists at Ekta Nagar on October 31, coinciding with National Unity Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the new attraction, which will offer visitors a nature-based experience highlighting wildlife, youth, women’s empowerment, heritage and spirituality.

Named the ‘Trail of United India’, the eco-trail has been developed by the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority (SoUADTGA) as part of efforts to expand tourism offerings beyond the Statue of Unity and the Sardar Sarovar area.

The trail, also referred to as the Limdi Village Eco-Trail, features five thematic zones showcasing India’s natural wealth, cultural heritage, social progress and spiritual traditions. Each zone includes theme-based exhibits and artistic sculptures designed to convey the message of national unity while highlighting different aspects of the country’s diversity.

Visitors will be able to walk through the green forest surroundings, explore the installations and spend time amid nature. The attraction aims to combine environmental awareness with an immersive outdoor experience.

Facilities for visitors

The eco-trail has been equipped with facilities including an entrance area, parking, ticket counters and an information centre. Other amenities include multi-purpose gazebos, bio-toilets, drinking water facilities, a bamboo watchtower, directional and informational signboards, stone seating areas and trail maps.

These facilities are intended to make the trail more accessible and help visitors navigate the forest route while exploring its various attractions.

Boost to eco-tourism and local livelihoods

The new attraction is expected to strengthen eco-tourism in Ekta Nagar by encouraging visitors to explore the region’s natural surroundings and learn about its biodiversity. Walking and trekking opportunities will also provide tourists with an outdoor recreational experience.

The addition of another tourist destination could encourage visitors to extend their stays in Ekta Nagar, potentially benefiting local businesses and creating employment and livelihood opportunities for nearby communities.

The Statue of Unity has emerged as a major tourism destination since its inauguration, attracting more than three crore visitors, according to the information released by the authorities.

With the launch of the ‘Trail of United India’, Ekta Nagar is set to broaden its tourism offerings by combining nature, cultural heritage and the message of national unity, while promoting environmentally conscious and sustainable tourism.
