Over 120 kg of silver stolen from trader’s house in Rajkot

Rajkot: A major theft has been reported from the Ranchhod Nagar area of Rajkot, where burglars targeted the residence of a silver trader and allegedly stole more than 120 kg of silver ornaments during the late-night hours.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the B Division Police, along with the Crime Branch, LCB Zone One team, and senior officials including the in-charge Police Commissioner and DCP-level officers, rushed to the spot and launched an investigation.
According to preliminary findings, the theft took place between 2 am and 2.30 am, when three suspects arrived in a four-wheeler, entered the house under the cover of darkness, and carried out the burglary. CCTV footage from nearby areas revealed that the accused escaped in a car after loading the jewellery.
Rajkot Zone One DCP Hetal Patel said approximately 120 to 125 kg of silver kept at the house of Bipinbhai, an acquaintance of complainant Atul Limbabhai Busa, who has been associated with the silver business for a long time, has been stolen. Police have begun scanning CCTV footage from surrounding areas and are working to identify and arrest the culprits.
MLA Uday Kangad, who rushed to the scene after learning about the theft, said, “I received a call in the morning from Jayeshbhai Busa, a prominent silver trader in the area, informing me about the incident. I immediately brought it to the attention of the DCP Crime. Senior officials and teams from the Crime Branch and B Division Police visited the site.”
Police also suspect the involvement of an informant and have questioned residents living on the upper floor of the house. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
