February 11, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has announced its action plan for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations scheduled to begin on February 26, with 15,27,724 students set to appear across the state.
Of the total candidates, 9,07,175 students will take the Class 10 examination, 1,19,263 students will appear for the Class 12 science stream, and 5,01,286 students for the general stream. Preparations for conducting the examinations are in the final stages.
In a first, differently abled students will receive 20 minutes of extra time per hour, effectively granting one additional hour for a three-hour paper. A total of 5,070 differently abled students are expected to appear, and the board has made special arrangements to facilitate them.
Authorities have coordinated with multiple departments, including the Health Department and ST Department, to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams. Training of staff deployed at strong rooms has also been completed.
Providing details for Ahmedabad, District Education Officer Rohit Chaudhary said approximately 95,688 students will appear for the examinations in 347 buildings across the city. This includes about 40 science stream buildings, 116 general stream buildings, and 191 buildings for Class 10, with 8,152 students from the Class 12 science stream alone.
Officials said special health arrangements, police security, and CCTV surveillance will be in place at all examination buildings. Authorities also noted that, for the past two years, differently abled students have been able to obtain the required permissions directly through their school without visiting government offices, a system that will continue this year.
