Gujarat State GST Dept cracks down on pan masala, tobacco dealers; ₹5.68 crore tax evasion detected

Ahmedabad: As part of efforts to curb tax evasion based on specific intelligence inputs and surveillance, the State GST Department conducted a special investigation drive on pan masala and tobacco traders in Ahmedabad on March 25, 2025. Raids were carried out at 22 locations, including Maninagar, Kubernagar, and Changodar.
During the investigation, several irregularities, such as unaccounted sales, undisclosed stock, and unregistered dealers, were detected through cash transactions. An estimated ₹5.68 crore was recovered from both registered taxpayers and unregistered dealers.
The State GST Department will continue to take all necessary steps to curb tax evasion and initiate legal action where required.
