Lizard found in canteen dal: 10+ Bharat Seats staffers suffer food poisoning in Surendranagar

Surendranagar: More than 10 employees of Bharat Seats Limited, located near Naviyani on the Patdi-Bahucharaji Road in Surendranagar, were affected by food poisoning after a lizard was found in the food served in the canteen. All of them were shifted to a hospital in Mehsana for treatment late at night. Following the incident, there was a huge commotion on the company premises, while the Health Department and the Food and Drugs Department have started an investigation.
According to information, a lizard was found in the dal served to employees during the 8:30 pm shift on Monday night. Some employees complained of sudden nausea, vomiting, and other problems after eating the food, raising suspicions of food poisoning. More than 10 affected employees were taken to a hospital in Mehsana for treatment by a company bus.
It is learnt that the employees were discharged after being given medicines, injections, and necessary treatment at the hospital.
Bharat Seats Ltd., located in Naviyani, manufactures automotive spare parts, including vehicle seat covers and carpets. More than 600 workers from the surrounding villages work there in two shifts. The company arranges food in the canteen by deducting a fixed amount from the employees’ wages.
There was widespread anger among the employees after the incident of a lizard being found in the food. A large number of workers gathered at the canteen and protested vehemently against the alleged negligence.
After the incident was reported, the Health Department and the Food and Drugs Department were informed, following which officials started an investigation into the entire matter. DeshGujarat
