Fresh Admission Round Announced for 190 Vacant Degree Engineering Seats in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Around 190 seats remain vacant in government and grant-in-aid colleges even after the offline admission round for degree engineering held on August 25. The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) has now announced another round to fill these seats, with registration scheduled from August 27 to 31 and seat allotment to be conducted on September 3.

Unlike previous rounds, students without a rank, including those who have not appeared for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET), will also be eligible to apply. A significant number of the vacant seats are in core engineering branches such as Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical in colleges in Palanpur, Godhra, Dahod and Bhuj. Vacancies have also been reported in textile engineering at MS University.

At the end of the regular admission process for degree engineering courses in government and grant-in-aid colleges, around 600 seats had remained vacant. Following an extension granted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), ACPC had announced an offline admission round to fill the remaining seats.

As many as 3,872 students gave their consent to participate in the offline round and were called to ACPC on August 25 according to allotted time slots. Of these, 3,200 students were present.

A total of 948 admissions were allotted during the round. This included 515 new admissions, while 433 students changed their allotted college to one of their preferred choices.

However, around 190 seats have remained vacant even after the offline exercise. The latest vacancies are concentrated largely in government and grant-in-aid colleges in Palanpur, Godhra, Dahod and Bhuj, particularly in core engineering disciplines.

Registration for the new round will be open from August 27 to 31, after which ACPC will conduct the admission and seat allotment process on September 3. DeshGujarat
