Vadodara: Amid a drive against littering in public places and violations of hygiene norms, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Wednesday sealed a hotel and a bakery and took action against several other violators.
The VMC Health Department closed Gayatri Bhavan Hotel near Vadodara Railway Station after finding that the hotel did not have an FSSAI licence. Food safety officers collected samples of various food items from the premises and sent them to the civic body’s laboratory for testing. Further action will be taken based on the test results.
The civic body also conducted a surprise inspection at Shivam Bakery in the Ramdevnagar area, where officials found severely unhygienic conditions. The bakery was sealed immediately, while its operator was fined Rs 50,000 for violating cleanliness and hygiene norms.
In another action, the municipal team raided a panipuri stall operating in unhygienic conditions. The operators reportedly fled after seeing the civic officials. The team removed illegal structures outside the stall and destroyed the clay oven being used to cook food.
The VMC also took action against five people for littering in public places, collecting a total fine of Rs 11,500. DeshGujarat
