Gujarat Govt Orders Quarterly Inspections of All Helipads to Ensure Operational Readiness

Gandhinagar: Helipads play a vital role in disaster management, medical emergencies, relief and rescue operations, and visits by dignitaries. To ensure their immediate and smooth use during emergencies, the State Government has directed concerned officials to ensure regular and strict maintenance of all existing helipads across Gujarat.

Under new guidelines issued through an official circular by the State Government’s Roads and Buildings Department, every helipad in the State will now be inspected at least once every three months to ensure operational readiness. Any defects or repair requirements identified during inspections will be addressed immediately.

The concerned Executive Engineers have been entrusted with ensuring that all existing helipads remain fully usable and in “operational condition” at all times. Superintending Engineers will also regularly review the condition and maintenance of helipads under their respective jurisdictions.

To maintain the quality of helipads, regular repairs will be carried out on related facilities, including the surface, pavement, painted markings, drainage systems and approach areas. Continuous monitoring will also be undertaken to ensure the timely removal of obstructions on or around helipads, including unauthorised encroachments, construction, stored materials, parked vehicles, garbage, bushes and shrubs, and unserviceable vehicles seized by government departments.

With this step, the government said helipads across the State will remain ready and safe for use at all times, making disaster relief operations and visits by dignitaries more efficient and convenient. DeshGujarat
