All Gujarat ministers except CM Patel resign ahead of new cabinet swearing-in

Gandhinagar: Out of 17 ministers in the Government of Gujarat, 16, barring Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, resigned today ahead of the new cabinet’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Friday. Out of these 16 ministers, 8 were cabinet-rank ministers, while the other 8 were ministers of state.

The Chief Minister is expected to submit the list of new ministers to the Governor in the evening, and the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. at Mahatma Mandir in the state capital. Governor Acharya Devvrat will administer the oath to all ministers. The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be followed by the inaugural meeting of the new cabinet.

According to the news agency PTI, which cited a senior BJP leader, the state is likely to see 10 new faces in the council of ministers during the expansion that follows more than half of the term of the Bhupendra Patel-led government. This government came to power in 2022 with a massive win of 156 seats.

The Gujarat Assembly, which has a total of 182 seats, can have up to 27 ministers (15% of the House’s strength) as per the rules. DeshGujarat
