Mandvi doctor booked again for illegal allopathy practice amid religious conversion case probe
January 11, 2026
Surat: Weeks after being booked for allegedly raping a Hindu woman and pressuring her to convert to Christianity, Dr Ankit Chaudhary has been booked in another case for illegally practising allopathy despite holding only a degree in homeopathy.
The accused, Dr Ankit Chaudhary, runs New Life Clinic in Mandvi and Jhankhvaav. Acting on specific inputs received during the investigation into an alleged illegal religious conversion case, Mangrol division Deputy Superintendent of Police B.K. Vanar conducted a raid at Chaudhary’s residence in the Bhaga Faliya area of Lakh village. During the search, police seized allopathic medicines worth over ₹58,000. The seized stock included tablets used for mental health treatment, antibiotic injections, creams for skin diseases, malaria injections, painkillers and cough syrups—around 15 different types of medicines in total.
Police said Chaudhary holds a degree in homeopathy, while the seized medicines can legally be prescribed only by MBBS or MD doctors, as confirmed by a medical officer. He has therefore been booked for endangering public life.
The case surfaced after a married woman, who had visited the clinic for her husband’s treatment, accused the doctor of luring and exploiting her, establishing a physical relationship and later pressuring her to convert to Christianity for marriage. Earlier, Chaudhary and his father Ramji Chaudhary were arrested in connection with the alleged religious conversion case, which was followed by the arrest of several teachers in Mandvi linked to the alleged conversion racket.
