Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar Metro: GMRC updates frequency schedule; Koteshwar Road new terminal

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has revised the Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar Metro operations and frequency, with Koteshwar Road Metro Station designated as the new terminal station. Under the updated plan, Line 2 of the North–South corridor now operates between APMC and Koteshwar Road, replacing Motera Stadium as the northern terminal. The change increases the corridor length to 20.2 km, with an end-to-end travel time of 35 minutes.
Meanwhile, Line 3 connecting Koteshwar Road and Mahatma Mandir has been shortened compared to the earlier Motera Stadium route, reducing the total distance to 20.87 km and the journey time to 43 minutes.
Blue Line
Under Phase 1, Line 1 (Vastral Gam–Thaltej Gam East–West Corridor), metro trains run every 7 minutes during weekday peak hours between 8 am and 11 am and again from 5 pm to 8 pm.
During weekday non-peak hours and Saturday peak hours, services are available every 10 minutes, while on Saturday non-peak hours and throughout Sunday, trains operate every 12 minutes.
The first metro departs at 6.20 am from both Vastral Gam and Thaltej Gam, while the last service leaves at 10 pm. The end-to-end travel time on this corridor is 45 minutes, covering a distance of 21.1 km.
Red Line
Under Phase 2, Line 2 (APMC–Koteshwar Road North–South Corridor), metro services operate daily from 6.16 am to 10.11 pm with a 12-minute frequency.
The first train departs at 6.20 am from APMC and 6.16 am from Koteshwar Road, while the last services leave at 10.11 pm from APMC and 10.05 pm from Koteshwar Road. The corridor covers 20.2 km with a travel time of 35 minutes.
Yellow Line
The Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar connectivity is primarily served through Line 3 (Koteshwar Road–Mahatma Mandir Corridor). Trains on this route run from 7.33 am to 8.09 pm with an average frequency of 24 minutes.
The first service starts at 7.33 am from Koteshwar Road and 8 am from Mahatma Mandir, while the last trains depart at 7.43 pm and 8.09 pm, respectively. The total journey time is 43 minutes across a distance of 20.87 km.
Violet Line
Meanwhile, Line 4 (GNLU–GIFT City Corridor) operates limited metro services. Trains run between 7.36 am and 10.18 am and again from 4.06 pm to 7.13 pm, with an average frequency ranging from 49 to 57 minutes. During mid-day hours, connectivity between GNLU and GIFT City is maintained through bus services. The travel time on this corridor is just 6 minutes for a distance of 5.8 km.
GMRC has clarified that ticket windows at all stations close five minutes before the departure of the last revenue train, and train frequencies may change due to operational or unavoidable reasons. DeshGujarat
