Gujarat University to Open Russian Language and Culture Centre
March 02, 2026
Ahmedabad: Gujarat University will on Monday launch India’s second Russian Language and Culture Centre after Mumbai.
Set up in collaboration with Russian House in India, the centre enhances the university’s academic and diplomatic profile. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alma mater, the move places Gujarat at the forefront of India’s growing engagement with Russia.
The centre will offer certified Russian language courses for students, faculty, researchers, professionals, and the public. Vice Chancellor Neerja Gupta said it will widen access to Russian language learning and boost career prospects.
The proposal was discussed by Madhish Parikh, founding director of the BRICS Youth Alliance, during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow in December 2025. DeshGujarat
