Over 50 lakh tourists flock to SOU in 2023, breaking all previous yearly records

Kevadia: In the year 2023, the Statue of Unity experienced the highest influx of visitors since its inauguration in 2018. The world’s tallest statue in Ekta Nagar welcomed over 50 lakh visitors in the past year that ended on Sunday.
In another development, the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel near the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River also recorded its highest-ever single-day visitors, with 80,000 people on Sunday, December 24.
As of October 2023, the 182-meter tall statue has generated Rs. 400 crore in revenue from ticket sales since its inauguration in 2018. While the Statue of Unity remains a major attraction for tourists, other spots like Jungle Safari, Ekta Nursery, and Glow Garden have contributed to the popularity of this destination.
It’s very interesting to note that the Statue of Unity is completely a new tourist place developed as per the vision of then Chief Minister and present Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi. While historic monuments and wildlife tourist places have been here for centuries and decades, the Statue of Unity is a new tourist place developed from ‘zero’ in recent years. The government has not just developed this new tourist place but also created smooth roads and rail connectivity to it. Fresh tourist attractions are continuously being added at frequent intervals in greater area of Statue of Unity. DeshGujarat
