LPG Tanker Jag Vasant Set to Arrive at Kandla Port in Gujarat on March 26: Centre

New Delhi: Out of the two Indian-flagged LPG tankers that crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, one is set to arrive on the Gujarat coast within two days. The LPG tanker Jag Vasant, currently located in the Gulf of Oman according to maritime traffic data, is expected to reach Kandla Port on March 26, a Union Shipping Ministry official said.

During the daily inter-ministerial briefing, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Rajesh Kumar Sinha, said, “All Indian ships and Indian seafarers currently present in the Gulf region are safe. No maritime incidents have been reported in the past 24 hours. Late yesterday evening, two Indian-flagged LPG carriers, Pine Gas and Jag Vasant, safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz and are now heading towards India.”

“Pine Gas is carrying 45,000 metric tons of LPG and is scheduled to arrive at New Mangalore Port, with an expected arrival date of March 27. Jag Vasant is carrying approximately 47,600 metric tons of LPG and is heading towards Kandla Port, with an estimated arrival date of March 26. With the exit of these two vessels from the Persian Gulf, there are now 20 Indian-flagged ships remaining west of Hormuz, with a total of 540 Indian seafarers on board,” he added.

Furthermore, the Sinha added that six loaded LPG carriers will be ready to sail in the future and no toll was levied by Iran while crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

The LPG carrier Jag Vasant has 33 Indian seafarers on board, while Pine Gas has 27. Earlier today, visuals of both ships in the Arabian Sea being escorted by the Indian Navy surfaced.

Prior to this, three Indian-flagged vessels had completed their journey through the Strait of Hormuz. Among them was crude oil tanker Jag Laadki, which docked at Mundra Port in Gujarat, carrying around 80,886 metric tonnes of crude oil sourced from the UAE.

Earlier, two Indian-flagged LPG carriers, MT Shivalik and MT Nanda Devi, had safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz and reached Gujarat on March 16 and 17. The vessels carried a combined cargo of about 92,712 metric tonnes of LPG and had passed through the strategic waterway on March 13. DeshGujarat
