Vadodara Couple Booked for Usury, Intimidation; Trader Alleges ₹12 Lakh Recovery

Vadodara: A complaint alleging usury and intimidation has been registered against Tamanna Syed and her husband, Sohil Syed alias Lambu, who recently came into the spotlight after a video alleging open drug sales in parts of Vadodara went viral on social media.

A trader from Tandalja alleged that he borrowed ₹3 lakh from Sohil at 22% monthly interest in May-June 2024. According to the complaint, the accused later collected around ₹12 lakh through cash and online payments but continued demanding additional interest.

The complainant alleged that Sohil gave him ₹2.30 lakh in cash near Basil School on May 31, 2024, while ₹70,000 was transferred online on June 1. When he was unable to pay the interest, Sohil allegedly visited his home, abused him and threatened to assault him and take away his belongings.

The trader further alleged that Tamanna also pressured him for interest payments and threatened to portray him on social media as a major drug supplier. He claimed that after he blocked her number following repeated WhatsApp calls, similar calls were made from Sohil’s phone.

Around one-and-a-half months ago, the couple allegedly arrived at Sahakarnagar in a Tata Harrier to demand payment. Tamanna allegedly threatened to implicate him in a drug case, while Sohil allegedly threatened to run the vehicle over him and kill him. Fearing for his safety, the complainant allegedly paid ₹10,000.

The complaint also states that Sohil confronted him again on July 25, 2026, and allegedly threatened to kill him if he failed to pay. The trader said he delayed approaching police due to fear of the alleged threats.

Police have registered a case against Sohil and Tamanna and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, Tamanna’s earlier social media video alleging open sale of MD drugs, charas, ganja and cocaine in areas including Nizampura, Navayard and Fateganj had gone viral. Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar said two drug cases had been registered in the city in the previous four days and that action against drug-related activities was continuing.
