Tamanna Sayyed Booked Again Over Alleged ₹2 Lakh Extortion Threat in Vadodara

Vadodara: Tamanna Sayyed, who came into the spotlight after a social media video alleging that drugs were being sold openly in various parts of Vadodara, has been booked for the third time in two days. In the latest case, she has been accused of threatening the manager of a cafe in Fatehganj with making a video about him go viral unless he paid ₹2 lakh.

The latest complaint was filed by Mohammad Zaid Ayaz Sheikh, manager of Invisible Cafe at Lakshya Complex in Fatehganj, at the Sayajiganj police station. According to the complaint, Tamanna had earlier posted a video alleging that drugs were being sold at the cafe.

Police said Tamanna subsequently contacted the cafe manager and allegedly threatened to make another video naming the cafe and circulate it on social media if he did not pay ₹2 lakh. Her husband, Sohil Sayyed, also allegedly threatened the manager and told him to keep the money ready, warning that a video would be made viral.

The complainant told police that he became frightened by the alleged threats and ended the call.

Tamanna and Sohil are already in police custody in another case involving allegations of threatening people to collect money with interest. A court has granted the police seven days’ custody remand of the couple.

During the investigation, police also found criminal records linked to Sohil Sayyed. According to police, seven cases, including attempt to murder, rioting, helping an accused in a serious offence escape, cheating and intimidation, have been registered against him at different police stations in Vadodara.

Police have also reportedly found criminal histories involving Tamanna’s two brothers, sister and father during the investigation.

Tamanna gained attention after posting videos on social media alleging that MD drugs, charas, ganja, cocaine and other intoxicants were being sold openly in areas including Nizampura, Navayard and Fatehganj. She had described Fatehganj as a major hub for the alleged sale of intoxicants.

Meanwhile, Tamanna’s Facebook and Instagram accounts have reportedly been banned in India. This follows similar action against Gujarat-based social media personality Kirti Patel, whose accounts were also banned in India. DeshGujarat
