Ahmedabad: A horrific triple accident occurred early Sunday morning near Vaishno Devi Circle on the SG Highway, resulting in the death of one young man and leaving several others injured. The collision involved a State Transport (ST) bus, a Fortuner car, and a Brezza car.
Details of the Collision According to the sources, the incident took place around 6:30 AM on January 18 amidst heavy fog. A Fortuner car (registration GJ 18 EF 9) was traveling at a high rate of speed from Sarkhej toward Gandhinagar. While attempting to overtake another vehicle, the driver of the Fortuner lost control, causing the car to crash into the median, jump over the divider, and land on the opposite side of the road.
The Fortuner then collided head-on with an ST bus traveling on the Himmatnagar-Rajkot route. The impact was so severe that the bus driver lost control, and the bus climbed onto the divider. A Brezza car following the Fortuner was also involved in the crash, leaving both cars completely crushed.
Casualties and Injuries The driver of the Fortuner, identified as Dhaval, the son of Gandhinagar-based lawyer I. B. Vaghela, lost his life in the accident. A young woman traveling in the same car sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Additionally, two other individuals-identified as Afsanabanu Samerbhai Khalifa (23) and Rasulbhai Babubhai Azam (32)-sustained injuries and are receiving treatment. While the bus was carrying passengers at the time, reports indicate that they were moved to safety and did not sustain injuries.
Traffic and Police Response The wreckage of the vehicles caused a massive traffic jam on the highway, with car parts scattered across the road. Gandhinagar Police arrived at the scene to manage the situation and used a crane to remove the mangled remains of the Fortuner to clear the path for commuters. DeshGujarat
