Gujarat board exams 2026: GSHSEB issues strict CCTV and fire safety guidelines
January 24, 2026
Ahmedabad: With the Class 10 and 12 board exams set to begin on February 26, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has directed all exam centres to ensure functional CCTV surveillance and fire safety compliance.
Schools hosting exams must verify that cameras are properly installed, provide clear coverage of the entire exam block, and display the SSC/HSC block number and a standard-time clock in the footage. Recording must run from 15 minutes before the exam starts until 15 minutes after it ends, with separate files for the main gate and strong room.
Centre superintendents must appoint a computer-literate staff member to manage CCTV operations. Daily recordings are to be prepared in two DVD copies for submission to the board and the district education officer.
Exam centres must also display valid fire safety NOC details at the entrance. The SSC and HSC exams will be held from February 26 to March 18, including repeater, private and separate exams. The board said these measures are essential to prevent malpractice and ensure fair examinations. DeshGujarat
