IMD Forecasts Rain in These Parts of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at isolated places in parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra over the next 24 hours, while most regions of the state are expected to continue experiencing dry weather and high temperatures.

According to the weather bulletin issued on May 23, isolated rainfall activity is likely in South Gujarat districts including Narmada, Navsari, Valsad, Dang and Tapi, along with Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. In Saurashtra, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar and Gir Somnath districts, as well as the Union Territory of Diu, may also receive light showers accompanied by thunderstorms.

The weather department has predicted dry conditions across the remaining parts of Gujarat, Kutch and other regions during the period. No rainfall activity has been forecast for the state from May 24 to May 30.

The IMD said no major change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next seven days, with temperatures likely to remain above 40 degrees Celsius in isolated pockets across Gujarat.

Surendranagar recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 43.8°C over the past 24 hours. Ahmedabad is also expected to witness mainly clear skies, with the maximum temperature likely to touch 43°C on Saturday.

It also noted that conditions remain favourable for the further advancement of the southwest monsoon over parts of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal in the coming days. DeshGujarat
