Process of removal of tanker hanging from Gambhira bridge begins
August 01, 2025
Vadodara: Efforts have finally begun to remove a tanker that has been precariously hanging off the Gambhira bridge for the past 23 days. According to information, the responsibility for the removal work has been assigned to the Anand district collector. A team equipped with safety gear has reached the site, and detailed planning is underway to safely extract the tanker.
The task has been entrusted to a private company from Porbandar, which is expected to deploy balloon technology rather than use cranes for the operation. Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had reportedly expressed displeasure over the prolonged delay, as officials from Anand and Vadodara districts were accused of shifting responsibility between each other. Ultimately, the Anand collector accepted charge of the operation.
The Gambhira bridge gave way on July 9, when several vehicles plying on it went tumbling down into the Mahisagar river. The tragic accident claimed the lives of 21 individuals. DeshGujarat
