India-Flagged LPG Tanker Jag Vikram Reaches Kandla After Crossing Strait of Hormuz
April 14, 2026
Kandla: Another Indian-flagged LPG carrier, Jag Vikram, transporting 20,400 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas, reached Kandla port in Gujarat on Tuesday.
Owned by Mumbai-based Great Eastern Shipping Company, the LPG tanker, carrying 24 crew members, had sailed earlier and successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz on April 11. It arrived at Kandla on Tuesday morning, according to maritime traffic websites.
The voyage is being seen as a significant development for India, as it marks one of the first instances of an Indian vessel navigating the crucial maritime route following the announcement of a 14-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran. The ceasefire is aimed at easing regional tensions and ensuring the smooth flow of global trade through the corridor.
Jag Vikram is the ninth Indian vessel to exit the Persian Gulf since early March, while around 15 India-flagged ships remain in the region awaiting passage. DeshGujarat
