Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Friday busted a bribery racket involving personnel from the Amraiwadi Police Station. While a middleman was caught red-handed during a trap, an unarmed head constable and a home guard have been declared absconding.

According to officials, the complainant’s relatives had filed a case before the Negotiable Instruments Court in Laldarwaja, Ahmedabad, following which three warrants were issued under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

To execute the warrants, the complainant approached the Amraiwadi Police Station and met Unarmed Head Constable Kishankumar Kandash Agrawat, requesting him to carry out the process.

The ACB stated that Agrawat, along with Home Guard Ketan Joshi alias Sonu, allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹3,000 to execute the warrants. They directed the complainant to hand over the money to a middleman identified as Vishnubhai Kashiram Patel.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB through its toll-free helpline number 1064. Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap near Chandra Studio, located opposite the Amraiwadi Police Station.

During the operation, Vishnubhai Patel was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting the full bribe amount of ₹3,000.

However, both Agrawat and Joshi were not present at the spot during the trap and are currently absconding.

The ACB has stated that all three accused acted in collusion. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding accused. DeshGujarat
