Two students of Gotri Medical College drown in Narmada Canal in Vadodara

Vadodara: Two third-year students of GMERS Gotri Medical College in the city drowned in the Narmada Canal near Ankodia on Tuesday afternoon. The victims, identified as Prem Matang (21) from Jamnagar and Aditya Ramakrishna (20) from Surat, had gone for an outing along with two other friends when the tragic incident occurred.
According to preliminary information, the students were taking a bath in the canal when Prem and Aditya drowned. One of the four students managed to escape and alerted the authorities. Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The bodies of both students were later recovered and brought to GMERS Gotri Hospital for further procedures.
Senior college official Dr. Rathod confirmed the students’ identities and stated that the college community is deeply shocked by the incident. The families of the deceased, who reside outside Vadodara, have been informed and are on their way to the city.
