BSF gallantry heroes of Operation Sindoor to greet PM Modi during Ekta Diwas parade

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take the ceremonial salute from 16 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel who were awarded gallantry medals for their bravery in Operation Sindoor during the National Unity Day parade in Gujarat, officials said on Friday.

The parade will be held on October 31 at Ekta Nagar (Kevadia) in Gujarat’s Narmada district to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. Patel is remembered for his pivotal role in unifying the nation after independence.

BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary said at a press conference in New Delhi, “The National Unity Day event, to be held on October 31 in Ekta Nagar, will be very special this year. This day and this event symbolize the unity and harmony of our great country. Like previous years, the event will take place against the backdrop of the 182-meter-tall Statue of Unity.”

Chaudhary said the Prime Minister will be the chief guest at the event, where 16 BSF personnel involved in Operation Sindoor, along with five Shaurya Chakra awardee personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will participate in the parade.

Officials added that these personnel will be seated in a moving vehicle during the parade. The BSF personnel were conferred with the Police Medal for Gallantry on Independence Day for displaying exceptional bravery and valour during Operation Sindoor. DeshGujarat
