IMD Forecasts Unseasonal Rain in Parts of Gujarat from April 19 to 21
April 18, 2026
Ahmedabad: Parts of Gujarat are likely to witness light to moderate rain and thundershowers at isolated locations over the next few days, even as most regions continue to reel under heat, with temperatures expected to cross 40°C, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The forecast indicates that while weather conditions will remain largely dry across the state, isolated rainfall activity is expected between April 19 and April 22 in select districts of central and south Gujarat, as well as Saurashtra.
On April 19, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Chhota Udepur, Dahod, and Mahisagar districts, along with parts of Amreli and Bhavnagar in Saurashtra. Similar activity is expected on April 20 in Tapi and Dang districts, and again in Amreli and Bhavnagar.
Rainfall activity may continue on April 21, with Bharuch and Surat in south Gujarat, along with Amreli and Bhavnagar, likely to receive light to moderate showers. However, the rest of the state is expected to experience dry weather during this period.
From April 22 onwards, dry conditions are likely to prevail across Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, and the Union Territories of Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli for at least three consecutive days.
Despite the possibility of isolated rainfall, there is no significant relief expected from the heat. The weather department has forecast no major change in maximum temperatures over the next seven days, with mercury levels likely to exceed 40°C in isolated pockets of Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch during the next four days.
In Ahmedabad, a partly cloudy sky is expected till the morning of April 19, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 42°C.
The prevailing weather conditions are being influenced by a western disturbance persisting as a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies, along with a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining areas. DeshGujarat
