Glimpes of Amit Shah’s interesting interview on Aap Ki Adalat(video)

Ahmedabad, 1 March 2014

Former Gujarat minister and present in charge of Uttar Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) Shri Amit Shah was interviewed by famous TV reporter Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat show. The episode was on air on Saturday 1st March at 10.00 pm. Repeat telecast will be available on India TV at 10.00 am on Sunday. Presented are glimpses of Amit Shah’s conversation with Rajat Sharma:

-When asked whether Modi should fight Lok Sabha election from Uttar Pradesh(UP), Amit Shah replied that as an incharge of party’s Uttar Pradesh unit he feels Modi should contest from UP. Party will gain from such decision. More so if Modi contests from UP and contribute to development of UP, it would result into double digit growth for the nation.

-When asked how many seats BJP may win in UP this time, Shah said he would not give reply in numbers.Shah added that BJP will emerge as the single largest party in UP elections, and the second largest party will get atleast 20 seats lesser than BJP.

-When asked about encounters that happened when he was Home minister in Gujarat, Amit Shah said not a single person encountered when he was Home Minister was anti-social, all those encountered were anti-nationals. Shah gave example of Sohrabuddin from whose farm 200 AK-47 rifles were captured by police. When asked further about Sohrabuddin encounter, Shah said Rajasthan Police, Andhra Police and central IB were also involved in this encounter. As a Home minister of Gujarat, was he so powerful to influence police of two other states – one of them ruled by Congress, and also central IB that works under centralg government? Shah said when he was a Home minister, 1500 encounters happened all over India, but just 14 encounters in Gujarat are probed, just to defame Gujarat.

-Shah said there’s wave in favor of BJP all over India, and strong wind in favor of Narendra Modi.

-When asked about surveillance of a woman in Gujarat, Shah said a judicial commission headed by very respected judge in Gujarat Ms Sugnyaben Bhatt is probing the case and he would share all details before commission. Shah asked Rajat Sharma to call him again when commission’s report is out. Shah said the entire issue is about whether it was surveillance or provision of security! The commission will give that answer.

-When a girl in audience asked whether the government led by Shri Modi in centre would provide security to women across India as efficiently as in Gujarat, Shri Shah said though the police department functions under the state government, the central government at least builds a perception, and under Narendra Modi led government in centre, not only women but even nation’s border will be safe.

-When asked why call records found him talking to police officers when encounters took place, Amit Shah said he was a Home minister and it was obvious for him to speak to police officers not just on encounter days but on all days. Check my five years call record and you will find I talked to cops in same intensity. So does that mean encounters were happening every day in Gujarat? Shah in lighter tone said if Osama was encountered in Gujarat, Obama could face arrest by such logic.

-When asked one accused cop Goswami alleged that permission of encounter was taken from safed dadhi(Modi) and kali dadhi(Shah), Shah said the said cop was given default bail and released before he gave such statement. If you give option of freedom in exchange of some statement, one would be ready for that, Shah said.

-When asked about Vanzara’s letter, Shah said he had no complain to make against Vanzara. Any person wrongly kept in prison for six years would express his anger.

-Shah said he has contested 42 elections including the elections of cooperative sector and assembly and he has won all of them. He said he won five assembly polls with highest margin.
