I-T dept seeks detail of Vibrant Summit MoUs from Gujarat
Gandhinagar, 15 March, 2010

Congress led central government’s Income Tax department has sent a letter to Industry Commissioner of BJP government in Gujarat, seeking details of companies that had signed MoU with the government of Gujarat of Rs. 1000 crore or more investment during the Vibrant Gujarat global business summit 2011. This was revealed by Gujarat Energy minister Saurabh Patel on the floor of Gujarat assembly today.
Patel raised question whether there is any other state in India that has been asked to provide details of MoUs and intention of investment? “Why always they are doing injustice to Gujarat?” the minister asked looking at the opposition benches in assembly.
“I want to ask, who asked to write this letter? who represented for it, and I want to ask the central government through this house whether they have sent such letter to any other state government in connection with investment there, tell me. Why they want to do injustice to gujarat only? Why they are after only Gujarat?”
“I am saying again that the member(Shaktisinh Gohil, the opposition leader in Gujarat assembly) said that if there’s something good for Gujarat he is ready to help. Here he is not helping but he is creating obstructions.”
“Here it is the golden jubilee of Gujarat’s statehood, but in fifty years history of this state, in past never anybody from opposition wrote such letter to the centre. It should be cleared Whether it is GSPC IPO of Vibrant Gujarat, for what reason such letters are written to create hurdles?”
Replying to Saurabh Patel’s questions, the Congress leaders said that if BJP was nationally against black money, why the party should have any problem in giving the details of large size MoUs, so that any possibility of black money could be checked?
It should be mentioned that few days before the Vibrant Summit, Gujarat’s opposition leader Shaktisinh Gohil had sent a letter to the Finance minister of India demanding Income Tax department’s investigation in Vibrant Gujarat summit’s MoUs. However disregarding Gohil’s such threats, many companies and captains of Indian industry not only attended the summit, they also signed MoUs worth lakhs of crores and also praised Modi openly.
