Mumbai–Ahmedabad Rail Update: Vande Bharat Expanded, Karnavati Route Change Continues

Ahmedabad/Mumbai: Western Railway has today notified continuation of operational changes in Train No. 22961/22962 Mumbai Central – Ahmedabad – Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express and Train No. 12933/12934 Vatva/Ahmedabad – Mumbai Central Karnavati Express.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, the temporary augmentation of Train No. 22961/22962 Vande Bharat Express from 16 coaches to 20 coaches, earlier notified up to journey commencing on 27th April, 2026, will now be made permanent with effect from journey commencing on 28th April, 2026.
The augmented four coaches comprise three Chair Car coaches and one Executive Class coach.
The Officer further stated that the temporary shifting of terminal of Train No. 12933/12934 Karnavati Express from Mumbai Central to Bandra Terminus, earlier notified up to journey commencing on 27th April, 2026, will continue up to journey commencing on 31st July, 2026.
Accordingly, the train will continue to originate/terminate at Bandra Terminus instead of Mumbai Central during this period.
Train No. 12933 Bandra Terminus – Vatva Karnavati Express will depart from Bandra Terminus at 13:55 hrs, while Train No. 12934 Ahmedabad – Bandra Terminus Karnavati Express will arrive at Bandra Terminus at 12:30 hrs. There will be no change in the timings at enroute stations.
In addition, the Karnavati Express will also be temporarily augmented by one AC Chair Car coach and will run with 22 LHB coaches instead of the existing 21 LHB coaches during this period. DeshGujarat
