Free Digital Life Certificate Service at Home for Gujarat Pensioners from May 1–July 31
April 30, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has partnered with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to provide free doorstep verification of life certificates (Jeevan Pramaan) for state pensioners, eliminating the need to visit banks or government offices.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and IPPB, the service will be available from May 1 to July 31, 2026. More than 5 lakh pensioners across Gujarat are expected to benefit.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Postmaster General (North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad) Krishna Kumar Yadav and Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar. Officials said the initiative aligns with the vision of doorstep banking services launched during the nationwide rollout of IPPB in 2018.
Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks will visit pensioners’ homes to generate Digital Life Certificates using biometric authentication, including face recognition and fingerprint verification. The certificate will be issued within minutes, with a digital copy automatically sent to the pension office via the Jeevan Pramaan application developed by the National Informatics Centre.
Officials said over 93,000 pensioners in Gujarat availed the Digital Life Certificate service last year through IPPB, including more than 62,000 who used doorstep services.
To avail the facility, pensioners need to provide their Aadhaar number, mobile number, and Pension Payment Order (PPO/e-PPO) details to the postman. A Pramaan ID will be sent via SMS upon successful verification, allowing download of the certificate online.
The service will also be available to Gujarat government pensioners residing outside the state through their nearest post office. Additionally, pensioners can withdraw funds at their doorstep using the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS), further improving accessibility and convenience. DeshGujarat
