Amit Shah’s absence in important functions has become routine
Ahmedabad, 19 July 2010
Does BJP like adverse coverage on Amit Shah in newspapers? Does Amit Shah himself like this?
Chronology of incidents support the answer which is “YES”.
First, neither BJP spokerpersons, nor state govt spokespersons deny any media report on Amit Shah. They don’t clarify or comment on it.
Secondly, Amit Shah could easily appear in public to tell the media that he is available and available to public, but on the contrary Shah has avoided to remain present in two important functions last week. Shah and Modi could remain present on same stage to clarify that there is no distancing as alleged in wide spread media reports. However even when there was natural opportunity, they didn’t do that.
When Garib Kalyan Melo was organized in Dhanpur village of Dahod district last week, the invitation card mentioned Amit Shah’s name clearly. According to invitation card, Shah was the central person of the event. Even state govt release from Vadodara unit of Information department had announced that Amit Shah and Modi would be together in Dhanpur Garib Kalyan Melo. However during the event, Amit Shah was completely absent. Shah is Prabhari Mantri of Dahod district, and this was perhaps the first state level event that he skipped in the district.
Then it was Army welfare and rehabilitation directorate function on Sunday in Ahmedabad to open Gaurav Senani Kumar Bhavan, a hostel devoted to the children of armed force jawans of Gujarat. Amit Shah was to inaugurate the building and his name too was there in invitation and also on inaugural stone. But Shah didn’t appear. Golden Katar division’s Gujarat Chief opened the building therefore, and the stone on which Shah’s name was carved was kept under curtain.
This could be a strategy but there is some truth that Amit Shah likes to remain absent in important functions these days. This only fuels rumors further. And perhaps he and his party like it.
