Amit Shah insists for jail food, treatment like just another prisoner
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 27 July 2010
According to jail sources, former minister Amit Shah insisted that he should be given jail food only like any other prisoner. It was a lunch time on Monday, when Shah started insisting that he should be catered jail food like any other prisoner. However jail authorities informed him that he was just an accused at this stage and therefore was been permitted to have his home food. Shah’s son Jay had brought home-cooked food for him. After some resistance Shah consumed food brought from home.
Shah also insisted that the bed, bed-sheet, pillow and blanket brought from his home should be sent back. Shah demanded that he would use such things offered from jail authority like just another prisoner.
Shah had four breads and milk in morning with medicine. He read several newspapers and books of Swami Vivekananda, and Dayanand Saraswati throughout the day in Tilak yard where he has been kept. Shah avoided TV. Due to rainfall mosquitoes harassed him however.
