CBI’s U-turn, ‘no demand to take Sohrab case out of Gujarat’
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 2 August 2010

CBI’s lawyer KTS Tulsi today told Special court of CBI in Ahmedabad, that CBI has full faith on Gujarat’s legal system and the agency has not demanded to take Sohrabuddin encounter case outside Gujarat in its report submitted to the Supreme Court.
Tulsi told CBI court, “We have not asked the Supreme Court to shift the case out. But if the atmosphere is not conducive, we may do so.”
This is believed as CBI’s U-turn after seeing Modi’s aggressive postures against any possible move of taking this case outside Gujarat. Modi had publicly threatened agitation against any possible insult of Gujarat’s legal system by taking out the Sohrabuddin case outside the state. Even Gujarat High Court Bar Association and Gujarat State Bar Association had threatened agitation against any possible move of such nature. There could be indefinite strike in Gujarat’s courts by all lawyers if the case was taken out of the state.
