“Can’t grant Amit Shah’s Police remand, as charge sheet is filed”
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 2 August, 2010
Once charge-sheeted, Amit Shah could not be brought to police remand:Gujarat’s former minister of state for Home Shri Amit Shah’s advocate Ram Jethmalani told CBI special court today in Ahmedabad. The court has reserved its order on CBI’s plea to take Amit Shah to police remand. The court will take decision on this on 4 August.
“CBI asked for Police remand, and we opposed on the ground that once charge sheet is filed, there is no power to grant police remand, but only judicial remand, and any case the ground seeking police remand are all bogus and unbearable,” Jethmalani said.
CBI had today filed an application in CBI special court in Ahmedabad seeking police custody of Amit Shah till 7 August to interrogate him further. Shah currently is in judicial custody and lodged in Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad where he was interrogated for three days, but through media, the CBI officials conveyed in last some days that Shah didn’t cooperate the agency and his most of the answers were “Yes” “No” “can’t remind”.
Shah seeks bail, but CBI is opposing it. Ahmedabad’s Mirzapur based special CBI court witnessed legal war between Shah and CBI(aka Gujarat BJP govt vs UPA govt in centre). Ram Jethmalani and Mahesh Jethmalani are representing Shah. CBI has employed KTS Tulsi for their case.
The court has reserved its order on police remand to Amit Shah, and will decide on 4 August. The court will decide on Shah’s bail application on 11 August.
