A youth in Surat was honored by Surat Diamond Association today for his honesty.

A youth, Hasmukh Jagani of Surat, who himself owns a small diamond unit, found a packet containing diamonds worth Rs 25 lakh, 10 days back on roadside. The packet had no name or address tag. He waited on roadside to look for its owner, but nobody turned up. He wanted to give this packet back to its true owner, but how to find a real owner, was a big question. He therefore discussed this issue with his close friends, and also contacted Surat Diamond Association office bearers.

Surat Diamond Association decided to seal the packet and put it in its custody. At the same time, an announcement was made on diamond market’s notice board to find true owner.

Soon after this, one diamond trader came to Association office to claim his packet. As no one other turned up to claim the packet, after thoroughly checking one trader who claimed, the packet was handed over to him today morning at 10.00 am in presence of media. He was honored for his honesty in same function.
