Shah could be receiving salutes in Muli, instead his day passed in jail
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 15 August, 2010

When the Government of Gujarat allocated venues to various Ministers for flag hoisting on 15 August 2010, then minister of state for Home and Jail Shri Amit Shah’s name was also in that list. Amit Shah was allocated Surendranagar district for flag hoisting. He was to hoist the Indian tricolor in Surendranagar district’s Muli town. In that case, whole Surendranagar district’s police would have saluted the minister.
However things, turned worst for the minister who ultimately had to resign and surrender to CBI. Today, exactly three weeks are passed, and the former minister is imprisoned in Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad.
It is not known, how Shah celebrated the Independence day in jail today. The prison authority of course celebrates the independence day inside the campus regularly with flag hoisting ceremony as core part, and almost all prisoners attend it. Sometime it is mandatory (don’t know whether it was the case this time or not). Shah’s bail application is pending in Ahmedabad based court and the next date of hearing is 17 August.
On the other side, at Muli in Surendranagar district, Shah was replaced by district Collector who hoisted the flag and received salute of police force of the district.
