A major accident was averted when two trains moving in opposite directions came on the same tracks at Bileshwar crossing near Wankaner in Gujarat today when the driver of a train apparently overshoot a signal.
Driver and Assistant driver of Mumbai-Jamnagar Saurashtra Janata express were suspended immediately for jumping the signal on Tuesday morning. They not only jumped the signal but took the train five kms ahead, very close to a freight train coming from opposite direction on same track.
Senior railway officer R.D.Meena is investigating the issue in detail.
If two trains had collided, there could be a big accident, as Saurashtra Janta Express is one of the busiest trains full with passengers most of the time on this route.
