"Sir had chest pain, but continued the campaign, and died today"Congress candidate in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation election died due to heart attack on Saturday morning.

Congress candidate and corporator Dr. Ganpatbhai Parmar was contesting election from city’s Saijpur Bogha ward.

According to his personal assistant, Dr. Parmar had chest pain yesterday itself, but as it was the last day of election campaign, he didn’t take the pain seriously and decided to continue his campaign.

“Prior to bike rally road show yesterday, sir told me that he had chest pain. I told sir, that as he was suffering from chest pain, he could rest. I advised him not to join the bike rally. But sir insisted to join the rally. He told he if would skip the rally, it will be a wrong message to the workers and the voters. He said it was last day of campaign, and he didn’t want to leave the ground at such stage. After exhausting bike rally and busy schedule that followed, sir was completely tired. Next morning he died even before sunrise,” Parmar’s assistant told media.

“Sir was active in campaign for last 12 days. He didn’t care about lunch and dinner time, or day and night. It was very stressful and busy schedule, that affected his health,” Parmar’s assistant added.

Due to Dr. Parmar’s death, the election commission has postponed the election of Saijpur Bogha ward.

Rival BJP candidates visited Dr. Parmar’s house to condole the family.
