Restless Modi now kicks off Panchayat, Nagarpalika campaign

Restless Modi now kicks off Panchayat, Nagarpalika campaignAfter grand success in six Municipal Corporation elections, Gujarat Chief Minister Modi is active on ground to ensure party’s victory in District Panchayats, Taluka Panchayats and Nagarpalikas.

Restless Chief Minister yesterday started party campaign for local body elections, with public meeting in north Gujarat’s district headquarter Mahesana, where Nagarpalika election is scheduled on 21 October. Shri Modi also addressed a rally in his well-known style at Kalol town, some kilometers away from Mahesana.

“These Congress people threaten me every day, that they will put me in jail. I tell them publicly here, that they are waiting for Muhurt or what? They are free to put me in jail today itself. Then they will have to see, the anger of the people of Gujarat. Levaa naa devaa padi jashe,” Modi said in his speech at Kalol.

Shri Mori is scheduled to address three public meetings at Dahod, Godhra, and Modasa today. While Dahod and Godhra are district headquarters located in central Gujarat, Modasa is in north Gujarat.

According to party sources, Modi’s campaign tour schedule upto 18 October is fixed.

Meanwhile, the party is planning to assign responsibility of four-day hard work to newly elected party corporators in six cities. While party workers of Ahmedabad will go to the areas of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Kheda district to ensure party’s victory there, the party workers of Vadodara will be visiting Vadodara, Dahod, and Godhra districts. Similarly, party workers of other cities will be visiting the districts in view of local body polls.

It should be mentioned here that District, Taluka, and Nagarpalika polls are to be held on 20 October. The elections cover almost entire rural, and semi-urban Gujarat.

It is believed victory in local elections will be cakewalk for BJP, as Congress cadre is highly demoralized after civic poll setback. Modi is likely to encash the civic poll victory during his rural/semi urban campaign. Moreover the rural Gujarat always prefers to follow the urban Gujarat.

The month of October in year 2010 has brought the widest polling activity in the state after Lok Sabha election last year, and before Gujarat assembly election of year 2012.
