Gujarat Congress leaders become tinier, couldn't influence own areas

Gujarat Congress leaders become tinier, couldn't influence own areasSignificant in today’s Gujarat local election result is the defeat of big wig Congress leaders. Though none of them actually fought an election, they are the defeated faces of the party, because they couldn’t ensure party’s victory in their respective regions. Forget victory, they couldn’t ensure party’s respectable position in their home turf areas.

Leader of opposition Shri Shaktisinh Gohil exercised franchise in his village Limda that falls under Ranghola Taluka Panchayat seat. Victorious here is BJP candidate Pethabhai Ahir. Gohil is MLA from Bhavnagar city, where the election was held early this month. Needless to say, it was BJP’s clean sweep here.

Another Congress leader Arjun Modhwadia is MLA from Porbandar where BJP and Congress both have secured equal number of seats. Here is a tie, and the officials are now exploring possibilities on what to do. BJP could win some more seats here, but thanks to its no repeat stand, the party didn’t give ticket to some existing corporators who later became rebellion and awarded victory to Congress in some areas. Modhwadia is from Modhwada village of Porbandar district. Interestingly the district body too is captured by the BJP. Porbandar Congress MP Viththal Radadiya is another looser in view of this.

Another powerful Congress leader from Saurashtra Kunvarjibhai Bavaliya has become tinier, as the BJP has captured Rajkot district panchayat. This body was with Congress party for last three terms. But now BJP has got clear majority. This is setback for Porbandar MP and Rajkot district leader Viththalbhai Radadia too.

Gujarat Congress President Siddharth Patel exercised his vote in Dabhoi town of Vadodara district. He is MLA here. But his party has been defeated by BJP in Dabhoi Nagarpalika election. Even district panchayat is now with BJP.

Central minister of state Dinsha Patel has not been able to save his party in Nadiad municipality election. Nadiad is Dinsha’s home town.

And whom to blame, if Sonia Gandhi’s political adviser Ahmed Patel couldn’t do anything in his native Bharuch district for the party!!

Patel stayed in Bharuch two days ahead of the election here. He met party workers and discussed election affairs with them. But Bharuch Nagarpalika has been won by BJP and Congress has not been able to capture the district panchayat too.

So there’s nothing but just an EVM cry left for the Congress party in Gujarat after the result. So if Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is going to address another victory rally at Ahmedabad’s khanpur based BJP headquarter, the Congress leaders will be busy in writing a fresh press release, calling a fresh press conference, and blaming EVMs.
