Ahmedabad, 23 October, 2010
Saurashtra’s Porbandar Municipality election result has created a strange situation.
Out of total 42 seats here, both main party BJP and Congress each are victorious on 21-21 seats.
State election commission is now exploring all options to clear the path for new elected body.
Another tie has happened in Ranpur Taluka Panchayat, where both BJP and Congress secured 7 seats, but there’s one independent too victorious, who is likely to decide the fate.
In Unjha Municipality election result, there’s a tie between independents and BJP as both have secured 18 seats each.
In Porbandar Municipality election, when two BJP candidates received same number of votes, the election officials put chits in a jar and picked up one chit blindly to declare one candidate a winner.
