It’s like kinder garden student honoring Vice Chancellors:Modi

“This is like, a kinder garden student honoring the University Vice Chancellor,” Modi said today at Ahmedabad’s Tagore hall while facilitating the veteran photographers(all above 70) in a function organized by Video Photographers Association of Gujarat(VPAG).

Modi narrated the importance of photography citing examples of its contribution in knowing Mahatma Gandhi, the freedom movement and Dandi yatra.

“Even the smartest narration in words can not replace a photograph. Imagine if we had no photographer, how could we understand how Mahatma Gandhi was looking like?”

Modi cited example of Kutch’s photographer Harnarayanji and Ahmedabad’s late photographer and researcher Haribhai Gaudan for their zealous devotion in this field.

Modi described how his government organized a photo competition of Cheetahs that are now only in Gujarat’s Sakkar Bag zoo in India. He appealed VPAG office bearers to invite all photographers of India to Gujarat during Navratri for Navratri photo competition in partnership with the Government of Gujarat.

Modi said he had great interest in Ora photography.

“Ora photography has improved much. Earlier there were cameras of the size of a washing machine for Ora photography. Now the technology has improved. Ora photography is now used in medical science for diagnosis also,”he said.

In reference to the fact that Narendra Modi possesses hobby of photography, VPAG President Mr. Shah requested him to allow the organization to come up with his photo exhibition. Mr. Shah recalled how Mr. Modi had organized a slide-show of his Kailash Mansarovar yatra in Ahmedabad, when he was not Chief Minister.
