"Behave with people like their daughter in law, and not mother in law"

"Behave with people like their daughter in law, and not mother in law"Now as you are elected, don’t start behaving with the people like you are their mother in law, but serve them like you are their daughter in law, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi told the newly elected party corporators of Surat Municipal Corporation in a function here.

Modi said, “don’t avoid those who didn’t vote for you. Those who are sitting here(elected corporators) should not have any illusion that they were chosen for party ticket because Modi had no alternative. In politics, there’s no full stop. One who is nothing today, could be on the top tomorrow. Take those party workers along with you who were denied ticket.”

Modi told newly elected councillors that people would not mind if one road was not repaired, or their minor works remained uncompleted, “but people would not forgive you if you start infighting, and mud sledging within the party. You will have to work with one another maintaining respect and dignity in party.”

Each newly elected BJP corporator introduced self to Narendra Modi in detail during the programme. Modi’s speech lasted for 35 minutes. He then had lunch with local MPs, Mayor, city unit BJP President.
