How Congress party used Gundaism to crush rebellion in Gandhinagar
Gandhinagar, 12 November, 2010

In October elections, the Congress party could secure victory over only two District Panchayats in Gujarat. One of these two is Gandhiangar District Panchayat. The election of Gandhiangar District Panchayat President and Vice President posts was held yesterday. as many as 8 out of total 19 Congress representatives were against party’s choice of candidate for President and Vice President posts. This 8 could form their own body with the support of BJP’s 8 candidates. However, due to out and open use of muscle power, the Congress party goons were succeful to crush the rebels. There was action-pack high drama in Gandhinagar District Panchayat office compound yesterday. Here in the district is interesting story of local politics where One Chaudhary group is against other Chaudhari group, where Patels group is aganist Thakor group, where Thakor group is against Chaudhary and Patel groups, where Shankarsinh Vaghela is against C.J.Chavda, where Shaktisinh Gohil is against Shankarsinh Vaghela, where Congress is against Congress…

-Congress won 19 seats and got clear majority in Gandhinagar District Panchayat election. BJP won only 8 seats. However BJP could support 8 Congress rebels to form independent body in Panchayat.

-Congress leaders assured that in five-year term, each year there will be a new District Panchayat President. Thus five ladies would get chance one by one. The five-year term of Gandhinagar District Panchayat is reserved for women presently.

-Those in race of Gandhinagar District President post were Hinaben Patel(Por), Ushaben Patel(Kolvada), Mangiben Chaudhary(Chhala), and Bhikhiben Thakor(Dabhoda).

-Congress gave mandate to Mangiben Chaudhary for President post and Bhikhiben Thakor for Vice President post.

-Two rebel representatives Ushaben Patel and Amit Chaudhary filed nomination for President and Vice President post. Amit Chaudhary is son of ex Gandhinagar District Panchayat President Haribhai Chaudhary. Amit is recently back from America where he stayed for five years.

-8 members of BJP, 11 from Congress, and 6 from rebel group of Congress were present in the meeting hall of Gandhinagar District Panchayat yesterday to elect the new President and Vice President.

-Before the election started, the rebel leader Amit Chaudhary and Manubhai Patel(Husband of rebel candidate for President post smt Ushaben Patel) departed Shankarsinh Vaghela’s residence ‘Vasant Vagdo’ with police protection. Two rebel Congress members Shardaben Makwana and Ramilaben Desai were also with them.

-As soon as they reached the District Panchayat office, and Ramilaben and Shardaben stepped out of their car they were kidnapped from the District Panchayat office by Congress leaders.Ramilaben is elected from Halisa, and Shardaben from Saij. Amit Chaudhary and Manubhai Patel tried their best to rescue Shardaben and Ramilaben, and jumped over Congress leaders, but Congress goons didn’t allow this and thrashed them. Congress goons literally thrashed and beaten the rebel representatives openly. Police had to lathicharge the goons, and even elected representatives were kicked out of the District Pcnahayat office campus.

-It is alleged that kidnapped Ramilaben and Shardaben were taken to Shaktisinh Gohil’s residence. They couldn’t participate in the election, and were absent and untraceable.

-Those present in the Gandhinagar District Panchayat campus against the rebels were District Congress President Jashubha Rana, State Congress General Secretary Nishit Vyas, Ex Secretary Ishwarsinh Chavda, Ex MLA C.J.Chavda, District Congress General Secretary Arvindsinh Solanki, NSUI Gujarat President Indravijaysinh Gohil, District observer Dr. Karsandas Soneri and others.

-When District Panchayat President election was held, rebel Ushaben Patel said, “I raise my hand to vote in favor of party’s candidate as there’s no option, but tomorrow I will resign. We will fight upto court on the issue of attack on us. This injustice will not be tolerated. Dilip Patel should be called to this hall. He not only slapper me but also snatched my necklace. Actions should be taken against him.”

-Another rebel Hinaben Patel said, “In democracy everyone has right to put his/her opinion. The women who were there to represent their voice are still being beaten. Somebody please rescue them.”

-Gandhinagar district police had deployed only two ladies constables, two Police Inspectors, two Sub Inspectors and 8 constables at the venue of President election. However the situation went out of control after rebel representatives of Congress party arrived here, and were thrashed. ACP Shobha Bhutada had to rush here with LCB and SOG jawans. But it was too late. No deployment of sufficient amount of policemen worked against BJP’s chance to prevent Congress to come to power in this District Panchayat. If two women Congress representatives could be rescued, and Amit Chaudhary and Manubhai were not beaten, Congress had not been successful to rule Gandhinagad District Panchayat.

-A complaint against six Congress leaders has been filed now in Gandhinagar police station sector 21, by Manubhai Patel on Friday. Manubhai has named Jashubha Rana, Dilipbhai and others in his complaint. Jashubha is husband of official Congress candidate Mangiben. Meanwhile Amit Chaudhary has sent his complaint to Gujarat Congress Prabhari BK Hariprasad.
