Gandhinagar, 23 November, 2010
The city of Ahmedabad witnessed heavy rain post 0.00 hour on Tuesday(commonly Monday midnight).
The city was clouded for several days, and even witnessed drizzle occasionally, but this time it was extra ordinary heavy rain.
This is very strange situation, because it’s winter, and monsoon has departed before two months, but for last 15 days or so, almost entire Gujarat is witnessing cloudy sky with rounds of rain in this part and that.
In Ahmedabad, Monday was the first day of wedding season. Waterproof mandaps and shelters were seen at many wedding venues. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 38th state Science and Maths exhibition where Modi’s stage was covered by water proof pandal.
Meanwhile on Monday, southern Gujarat city Surat witnessed heavy rain. Unseasonal showers were also experienced in Amreli, Jamnagar, Rajkot, parts of Junagadh district, Ambaji, and at many other places in state.
Unseasonal rain is causing heavy damage to standing crops in the state.
