With toppling of 12000 dominoes, IIMA students will start 50th year celebration

IIM Ahmedabad’s Golden Jubilee celebrations will start from 11th December 2010 with range of events starting from dominoes fun to book release, get together, felicitations, cultural programmes, and dinner at last in the evening.

A day-long celebration will start at Ravi J Matthai auditorium with ‘Domino Show’ by the students which will involve the toppling of about 12,000 dominoes to unveil the Golden Jubilee logo.

The Book launch ceremony will witness dedication of IIMA’s Business Books: 1. Strategies for Growth by Prof. Atanu Ghosh, 2. How to be a Better Manager by Prof. T V Rao, 3. The Persuasive Manager by Prof. M M Monippally, and 4. Business and Intellectual Property by Prof. Anurag K Agarwal.

In the evening, the grand and iconic Louis Kahn Plaza will host Felicitation Ceremony where institute Director Prof. Samir K. Barua, Director would felicitate past board members, faculty and staff having long association with the Institute.

Some of the prominent invitees who have confirmed their presence include Mrs. Syloo R. Matthai, w/o Late Prof. Ravi J Matthai, first full time Director of IIMA;Smt. Elaben Bhatt; Shri Shrenik Kasturbhai; Prof. Samuel Paul; Prof. Pradip Khandwalla and Prof. Bakul Dholakia.

This will follow a release and Screening of a Documentary Film on IIMA. While late De. Vikram Sarabhai’s wife Mrunalini Sarabhai will be the Chief Guest of the function, her daughter Mallika Sarabhai – who is also alumni of the institute – will presence dance in cultural programme. The cultural event will also involve participation of faculty, students and staff members.

Interestingly, the whole event will be webcast live (watchout DeshGujarat and GujaratMoney for link) to involve maximum number of alumni in this.
