Rich Surat gets crorepati Raju Desai as new Mayor

Raju Desai(Rajendra Desai) is new Mayor of Gujarat’s second largest Surat city while Chhayaben Bhuva is Deputy Mayor and Mukesh Dalal is Standing Committee Chairman. Dalal has been retained on this post for fourth time, while others have got first chance to taste the power.

Dayashankar singh has been selected the leader of the ruling party in Surat Municipal Corporation while Praful Pansuriya is new Chief Whip of the party.

While contesting the Municipal Corporation election, all candidates have to file affidavit to declare their property. The highest property in last SMC election affidavits was declared by Raju Desai. According to that, Raju Desai has Rs.10 crore property. This includes Rs.8.73 crore worth agriculture practice, non agriculture property, house, Rs.9.45 lakh cash, Rs.40.58 lakh in bank, Rs.23.29 lakh bonds, 110 tola Gold worth Rs.22 lakh, and Rs. 61.45 lakh various life saving policies.
