Delhi feels beaten by Ahmedabad, and correctly realizes the reason
Ahmedabad, 18 December, 2010

Gujarat govt had organized a symposium in Ahmedabad early this year for perfect preparations of World Heritage City statue procedure
This is interesting and makes point that we can cheer and proud about.
The authorities of Municipal Corporation of Amhedabad last Sunday handed over a dossier to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the nodal agency here claiming India’s first UNESCO listed World Heritage City status for the city of Ahmedabad. The ASI, in turn, would submit it to the UNESCO for including it in the “tentative list” of the WHCs.
Now the core part to notice in this development is what India’s capital city Delhi feels about it.
The Hindustan Times report says: “Delhi seems to have failed to beat Ahmedabad in featuring as India’s first UNESCO listed World Heritage City.”
The report further narrates how Delhi was beaten by Ahmedabad in this regard. Read what’s AGK Menon observes about Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Gujarat government:”As against Ahmedabad, we(the people in Delhi) don’t have a consensus among the stakeholders. The people out there(in Ahmedabad and Gujarat) are very aggressive and proud about their heritage, which is reflected in the attitude of the government and the local body there.”
