Modi opens Giants International conference in Mumbai

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modu today attributed the state’s phenomenal growth to the societal forces. He wished each citizen becomes a voluntary organization.

Inaugurating a convention of Giants International in Mumbai, Mr. Modi listed a slew of steps undertaken by the state government in the past, taking the Samaj Shakti and Jan Shakti along, to overcome a host of hurdles and upheavals faced in post-Independent India.

He said the first challenge was giving a boost to pre-Independence slogan of Swaraj, meaning Self Rule given by Mahatma Gandhi and others, through Surajya, meaning Good Governance. Had we taken up Surajya as a people’s movement from the beginning, he said, India would have become a developed nation long back. The nation has neglected the societal forces for too long.

Mr. Modi said that not just political leaders but scientists and other scholars too had their share in nation building. He reiterated his resolve to take people along to reach the desired goal.

He said that Gujarat has through its Save Girl Child campaign improved the adverse gender ratio from 827 to 905 females per 1,000 males, improved the infant and maternal mortality rate through Chairnjivi Yojna, saving 26,000 births, with 1,000 private maternity homes and gynecologists joining the scheme, built 6-lakh check dams and bori bandhs, increased agricultural production manifold to Rs.50,000-crore. Gujarat has also undertaken concrete steps to reach zero pending cases, to improve upon the malady of Justice delayed is justice denied.

Giants International World President Nana Chudasma and Convention Chairperson Shaina N.C. in their welcome speeches, besides other speakers lauded the Narendra Modi style of leadership.
